Masada

The ancient fortress of Masada, located on the top of an isolated cliff on the eastern edge of the Judean desert, rises to a height of 63 meters above sea level, and about 450 meters above the Dead Sea. The cliff was chosen by King Herod to be used as a place of refuge and a royal fortress, and on its flat summit magnificent palaces, public buildings and pleasures were built.
